Videoing Ideas for Teaching and Learning Languages (VITALL) is an NDLR supported project promoting the professional development of language teachers.
The partnership of the Education Department, NUIM, the Post-Primary Languages Initiative and the Professional Development Service for Teachers seeks to address the practicalities of encouraging innovative practice, team work and collegiality among Modern Language teachers.
The video resources portray the implementation and discussion of innovative methodologies for teaching a range of languages (Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Spanish) and are accessible through this interactive website.
The Vitall site will be used in conjunction with face-to-face professional development seminars for teachers at pre-service and in-service level.
VITALL is jointly managed by the Education Department, NUI Maynooth; the Post-Primary Languages Initiative; the Professional Development Service for Teachers and Portlaoise Education Centre. The project is supported by the National Digital Learning Repository.
